Stroke a friendly white reindeer this winter

Stroke a friendly white reindeer this winter and marvel as these magnificent animals roam free amidst stunning Highland landscapes.

Visit the UK's only reindeer herd the Cairngorm mountains, just six miles from Aviemore. Each of these friendly animals has its own name and is known by sight to the herders. Try to see Comet, a large white Christmas Reindeer, who is very friendly and enjoys hand-feeding!

The Reindeer House in Glenmore is the meeting place for interested parties waiting to join guided tours onto the hill. Wall displays tell visitors more about the reindeer, their natural history, world distribution and, of course, their association with the famous Father Christmas.

The Cairngorms National Park is abuzz with all kinds of winter white wildlife, from ptarmigan and snow bunting to mountain hare and wildcat. Hop on the funicular railway and look out for these wild sights as you admire views from Cairngorm plateau to the Monadh-liath. Stop at the Ptarmagan Restaurant for more scenic thrills in the UK’s highest restaurant and a warming hot chocolate.

Visit the Landmark Forest Adventure Park, just north of Aviemore, and look out for red squirrels as you explore this fantastic pine forest. With everything from climbing to forest mazes, this is a fantastic family day out.
