Admire the majestic white whooper swan

Visit Loch Leven National Nature Reserve during winter to see majestic white Whooper swans.

The Loch Leven Heritage Trail, runs from Kinross Pier to RSPB Vane Farm around the north side of Scotland's largest lowland loch. Experience the haunting calls of these majestic birds as they follow you along the loch shore, and look out for tracks and trails in the snow as birds and animals hunt for food.

The trail offers walks of varying lengths, such as Kinross Pier to Mary's Gate, where you can get closer to this wonderful wildlife at the viewing platforms at Mary's Ponds.

Find out more about walks on the Loch Leven Heritage Trail.

Meanwhile in Angus and Dundee, The Montrose Basin Estuary is also one Scotland’s best destinations to watch these winter visitors feeding.
