A winter haven for the bright snow bunting

Experience white-winged migration in the Outer Hebrides this winter.

The Outer Hebrides is internationally renowned for its beautiful, unspoilt habitats and the interesting species of wildlife that thrive there. Many migratory birds find a winter haven where they can rest until reaching their final destinations or find a temporary home.

Watch out for flocks of greylag and barnacle geese soaring through the skies in their distinctive formations. If you venture towards the coastline you might catch a glimpse of white-winged glaucous and Iceland gulls scavenging the seas for fish. Another winter visitor is the snow bunting, a more delicate bird that feeds on seeds and and insects.

The Outer Hebrides provides a tranquil resting place for humans and birds alike. So whether you want to adventure in the wilderness or spend a chilled out day with binoculars, there is plenty of winter wildlife to find on your island holiday.
